
The International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz
was initiated in 1994. Four competitions have already been held since that time
- in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001 and the 5th Competition in the group
"Horowitz-Debut" was held in 2002. 473 young pianists from 25 countries
of the world have taken part in them.
Great contribution to the development of the Competition constituted numerous
tours of its prize winners - they were gaining applause in Ukraine, USA, Australia,
Israel, France, Russia, UK, Rumania, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Malaysia,
China, Croatia, Japan.

The 1st Competition took place in Kyiv from April 24 to May 3,1997.
102 pianists from 13 countries of the world (Austria, Belorus, Israel,
Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, USA, Russia, France,
Ukraine) took part at the Competition in two age groups.
22 musicians from Ukraine, Russia, Byelorussia, Israel, USA, Austria and France
became prize and diploma
winners of the 1st
Competition.
