People's Artist of Russia, Professor of the Moscow Conservatory.
Born in Moscow. She received her musical education in the Central Music School
(class of K.Nikolaeva) and Moscow Conservatory (class of G.Neuhaus).
In 1952, she won the title of a laureate at the International Competition in Prague;
from that time on she launched her teaching and
performing activity.In the period of 1960-1995, she prepared and played 15 recitals. Among them are: monographs -
Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Chopin, Beethoven, Schubert; mingled programs -
Tchaikovsky-Musorgsky, Rachmaninov-Scriabin,
Prokofiev-Shostakovich; symphonic programs
- Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Rachmaninov, Chopin. The artistic accomplishment of
the pianist includes 9 disks and many records for the radio archives.
Vera Gornostayeva is teaching experience is morethan 40 years. Amons her students there are 26 laureates of international competitions, including
such famous pianists as O.Slobodianyk,
D.Yoffe, E.Andzhaparidze, P.Yegorov, Ivo Pogorelich.Since 1988, she has been
regularly conducting master classes in different countries of the world. The most successful were master classes
in Japan, where she had been invited by Yamaha in 1990.
An important aspect of her creative career is her enlightenment activity: her
students' performances, lectures-concerts called "Music and Thoughts
of It", open lessons, legendary radio and TV programs, and
brilliant pieces of journalism that have made her name well known both in
Russia and far abroad.
