Namik Sultanov

Namik Sultanov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. At the
age of 13 he performed Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto with Azerbaijan State
Philharmonic Orchestra. He had studied under Professor L. Naumov at the Moscow
State Conservatory, finished the school with an M.A. and Proficiency in Art.
Mr. Sultanov has joined the Piano Department of the Azerbaijan State
Conservatory in 1971, where he soon became an Associate Professor and
was honored with the title "The National Artist of
Azerbaijan Republic.
Having participated in International and National
music festivals in Russia, Turkey, Mexico, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Mr.
Sultanov gave many performances and recitals at such important
musical centers as Moscow, Istanbul, Ankara, Mexico City, St. Petersburg, Kiev,
Minsk, Alma-Ata, Tallinn and Baku.
From 1991 up to 2001 Mr. Sultanov worked at Bilkent
University (Ankara , Turkey) ,where he a post of the
Head of Piano Department and Vice Dean at the Faculty of Music and Performing
Arts. Among his students there are prizewinners of international and national
competitions.
Mr.Sultanov participated as a member of the jury in the International and National
piano contests. He delivered master classes in "Summer
Music Academy" in Kiev in 2001.
Mr.Sultanov has many recordings of his concerts in TRT and Azerbaijan Radio and
Television Company. He also recorded a CD in Switzerland with an outstanding
Turkish flutist S. Kutluer.
Mr. Sultanov currently resides and works in the USA.
