Ronald Turini, winner of a gold medal at the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium
International Concours, 1960 and top prizes in the Busoni Competition in Italy,
1958, and the International Competition in Geneva, Switzerland, 1958. Among his
teachers were Isabelle Vengerova and Olga Stroumillo and he was privileged to
be one of the few students of the legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz.
Since his exciting U.S. debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall in 1961, Ronald Turini has captivated audiences and critics alike in North America and abroad. He has been the soloist with such major orchestras as the Chicago National, Toronto, and Montreal Symphonies and in Europe with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, and Leningrad Philharmonic.
He has made three tours of the U.S.S.R., three tours of South America and two tours of Japan. His artistry has triumphed in key cities of Europe including Paris, London, Vienna, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Here in North America his record is equally impressive with recitals and orchestral engagements in cities such as New York, Chicago, Washington, Houston, Montreal, Los Angeles, and Dallas. He has recorded for RCA Victor and CBS/Sony and is a founding member of Quartet Canada.
Mr. Turini is now Professor Emeritus at University of Western
Ontario. He has served on the jury of the Montreal International Piano
Competition, CBC National Competition, Jeunesses Musicales Competition and
Pacific Piano Competition.
